Are you an experienced tax professional specialized in wage tax and social security and passionate about accuracy, compliance and client service? At Grant Thornton Sint Maarten, we offer you the opportunity to advance your career. We are looking for a Manager Payroll Tax to head our payroll department. In this role, you will lead a small team of payroll consultants and provide expert advice on wage tax and social security matters.  


What will your work involve?  
As Manager Payroll, you will guide a team of payroll consultants and serve as the subject-matter expert in wage tax and social security.  You will engage with clients regularly to anticipate their needs, resolve complex issues, and provide value-added payroll solutions.

Key responsibilities 

  • Review client payrolls and ensure they comply with labor, wage tax, and social security laws.
  • Support clients during wage tax audits and handle expatriate calculations when needed.
  • Provide practical advice on payroll and wage tax questions.
  • Oversee accurate and timely payroll processing for multiple clients. 
  • Maintain quality control and monitor project budgets.
  • Improve processes and identify opportunities to strengthen our services.
  • Coach and guide team members to grow their skills and our department’s expertise.

Your profile: 

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Tax Law, Fiscal Economics, or a related field. 
  • 7+ years of experience in payroll or wage tax compliance. Knowledge of Celery or Caribbean payroll legislation is a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills, accuracy, and the ability to interpret wage tax legislation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; Dutch is a plus.
  • Proven leadership and coaching abilities.
  • A proactive, collaborative mindset and a commitment to building trusted relationships.
