Over 25 years of missed opportunities
The Women in Business Report 2025 paints a challenging picture of gender equality in senior roles. Despite small progress, women still occupy just 34.0% of senior leadership positions globally. At this rate, gender parity will not be achieved until 2051. This means young women entering the workforce today in Sint Maarten may have to wait over 25 years before seeing gender-balanced leadership in their careers.
Mid-market businesses, which make up 90% of global enterprises and generate two-thirds of jobs worldwide, are key to accelerating gender parity. These businesses are uniquely positioned to influence change and drive a more inclusive business environment.

The Path Forward
For businesses, the opportunity to lead in gender diversity is clear. Mid-market firms must set ambitious targets, foster female talent, and engage with partners to create a more inclusive business environment. This will not only benefit their own companies but will also contribute to a stronger and more dynamic economy for the region.
Now is the time for us to take action. Achieving gender parity in leadership is not just a matter of fairness—it is essential for creating a more innovative, resilient, and prosperous business environment for everyone.
