Minimum Wage Increase

Minimum wage increase effective April 1, 2024

In December 2023, the government announced an increase in the minimum wage, which will take effect on April 1, 2024. The minimum hourly wage will increase from Naf 9.95 to Naf 10.40. This adjustment results in a minimum full time monthly wage of Naf 1,801 (approximately $1000), a 4.5% increase compared to the previous minimum wage. This increase, according to government, aims to provide competitive and equitable wages in line with the evolving economic conditions on Sint Maarten.

Grant Thornton Sint Maarten will proactively inform our payroll clients of the necessary adjustments to be made in light of the new minimum wage standards.
